The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine seeks a Vice Chair of Education to centralize, direct, and grow our academic mission, across all of our educational and training programs. We seek an individual with demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment to lead our educational efforts. The Department integrates eight clinical programs and a basic/translational research division and spans a number of campuses across the state. This faculty position will be a full-time position at the Associate or Full Professor level.

The Department supports an ACGME residency program and fellowships in maternal fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology, gynecologic oncology, female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, and complex family planning. We train approximately 55 post-graduates at any given time. The residency and fellowship programs are highly ranked destinations for trainees from across the country. A clinician educator track specifically supports the career trajectory of faculty who are primarily focused on medical education. We also train medical students who receive training in OB/GYN as well as subspecialty sub-internships. Focused investment in the recruitment of diverse trainees and development of robust mentor/mentee networks, leadership training, advanced degree programs, and a learning environment that fosters inclusive excellence are a departmental priorities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with and commitment to advancing education within obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Evidence of strong history of educational program leadership.
  • The ideal candidate will have an MD, a PhD, or an MD/PhD, and demonstrate evidence of prior academic investigation related to reproductive medicine. A candidate with a clinical practice is preferred, which can be in any area of obstetrics and gynecology.

Overall Responsibility

This position reports directly to the department chair. The vice chair will have significant leadership responsibility to oversee all education programs in the department, and to centralize operations across a diverse portfolio of clinical curricula and multiple learning sites. The successful vice chair will build and support a strong educational leadership pipeline, managing and collaborating with our residency program directors, associate program directors, fellowship directors, and clerkship directors. The director will work in synergy with other vice chairs and educational leaders to develop and direct the educational mission. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the diversity mission of the department which includes, creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment.
