The University of Vermont (UVM) Larner College of Medicine seeks a Stroke Neurologist for a full-time position in clinical care, teaching and research. Fellowship training in Vascular Neurology is required and candidates should be board eligible/certified. Training in Neurocritical Care will also be considered. The candidates should have the interests and skills to help expand an established, high-quality clinical service.

The University of Vermont Medical Center, Vermont’s academic medical center, is a Level-1 adult and children’s trauma center, a Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center and the major referral center for the state of Vermont and upstate New York. Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center is planned.

The Stroke Program currently includes a team of two Vascular Neurologists; two Neurointerventionalists; two Vascular Neurosurgeons; a Nurse Practitioner and program coordinators. A Vascular Neurology fellowship program will be established in the near future. The department is offering telestroke as a part of teleneurology services.

UVM has broad strengths in vascular disease research, including in cerebrovascular disease and stroke, in the investigation of vascular biology and biomarkers (hematological and radiographic), thrombogenesis and the neuropharmacological control of cerebral vessels. Opportunities exist for clinical research in the delivery of acute neurologic care in rural areas. Programs in experimental neurotherapeutics are active in several divisions of the department. Applicants with specific research interests, either clinical or basic science, related to cerebrovascular diseases, neurocritical care, epidemiology, outcomes and health care delivery are strongly encouraged to apply. Participation in general clinical neurology and the educational programs of the department are important.

Located in Burlington, UVM and UVMMC serve as Vermont’s only academic medical center.
