Movement Disorders Neurologist

The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine at The University Health Network/Sinai Health System (UHN/SHS) at the University of Toronto is seeking a clinician investigator with a focus in movement disorders and innovation. The candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. The effective start date is as soon as possible.The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate will have fellowship training in movement disorders and functional neurologic disorders. He or she will have established expertise in clinical care in neurology, movement disorders and functional neurologic diseases. He or she will have specific additional training in research such as a Master’s degree or equivalent. The successful candidate will develop a multidisciplinary academic movement disorders clinic and must be a collaborative “team player”. Emphasis will be placed on innovation and integrated models of care that align with the Department’s strategic plan. The candidate will be expected to build a comprehensive program that focuses on high quality patient care and the patient experience from a multidisciplinary, neurorehabilitation perspective over 5 years. Populations of interest will include Parkinson disease and atypical Parkinson syndromes, and Functional Movement Disorders. With this in mind, the candidate will be expected to lead and continue to develop the newly established Integrated program in Functional Movement Disorders, including an outreach service for new/acute presentations. He or she will be able to establish and sustain an independent research program. Research activities will be directed toward to the study of the care models that are developed in this multidisciplinary clinic and determining patient- and health-system outcomes to ensure program sustainability.

The successful candidate will participate in all aspects of the UHN/SHS Neuroscience Program. He or she will have the opportunity to participate in clinical research aspects of the UHN/SHS and the University of Toronto, if desired. Academic appointment in the Division of Neurology, University of Toronto and salary will be commensurate with training and experience.

Estimated remuneration will be in the range of $225,000 - $250,000 and commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until June 30, 2019.
