We are particularly interested in candidates who have excellence in the areas of interventional cardiology, and molecular cellular and/or other forms of translational research

The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Individuals appointed as Assistant Professors in the Medical Center Line will have completed their house staff training and, where appropriate, postdoctoral fellowship training. They must demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in the overall mix of contributions in clinical care, teaching and scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine appropriate to the programmatic need upon which the appointment will be based. There should be evidence that candidates have the promise to attain regional recognition for excellence in the overall mix of contributions. In order for the candidate to establish a career as a strong independent investigator, we anticipate that the individual will devote 65% effort to research, 25% effort devoted to clinical activities with the remaining 10% effort devoted to teaching

Candidates with a proven track record in basic research who are active clinicians are preferred. The applicant is expected to have MD or MD and PhD degrees, to have formal training in interventional cardiology procedures, including those related to structural disease, and to have advanced training in an area of molecular and translational research

The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program, addressing areas of unmet needs in one of the research areas note above. The successful candidate is expected to be highly collaborative and have a vision toward translating her/his research to patients via development of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and novel therapeutics

We are seeking an individual who will also have outstanding clinical and teaching skills. The candidate will be expected to have advanced skills in all areas of interventional cardiology, including diagnostic coronary angiography, cardiac hemodynamics, percutaneous coronary intervention, and use of various percutaneous cardiac assist devices
