Henry Ford Health System Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, in southeast Michigan, is seeking a fellowship trained, board eligible/certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon with an expertise in hip arthroscopy. This is an opportunity to join an academic practice and work out of the William Clay Ford Center for Athletic Medicine in Detroit and the newest system hospital, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital, 20 miles northwest of Detroit. Leadership opportunities are available and commensurate with experience.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery utilizes an academic employed physician model, with sports medicine primary care and surgical physicians in all sub-specialties supported by mid-level providers, specialty-trained nurses, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and podiatrists. Our research division houses the internationally recognized Herrick—Davis Motion Analysis and Biomechanics Lab.
This practice will be 50-60% hip with the remaining cases coming from sports and trauma. It’s anticipated this position will see about 300 cases a year with two and half clinic days and two days of OR time. On-call is about 1 in 8 and one weekend in a three-month span. Clinic hours may include the occasional weekend clinic.
