The FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health is recruiting Orthopedic Surgeons to work in Silver Spring, Maryland as Medical Officers in the Division of Orthopedics Devices (DOD) evaluating cutting-edge orthopedic devices. As a Medical Officer, you will provide oral and written consultations for various types of regulatory submissions across a wide range device types related to fracture fixation, joint replacement and reconstruction and spinal disorders. Individuals play a significant role in clinical trial study design, clinical study data evaluation, and interact frequently with clinical investigators and representatives of regulated industry.

Applicants must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant’s graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country will be considered.

Although this position does not involve direct patient care duties, candidates must possess and maintain a permanent and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Orthopaedic board certification or eligibility (ABOS) is preferred. Candidates must relocate to the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. Starting salary ranges from $185,000-$199,000 per year (for those with board certification or eligibility) with an excellent benefits package.
