We have an exciting new opportunity for academic leadership of the newly formed Center for Perioperative Cognitive Health in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The successful candidate shall have relevant experience in research, medical health system leadership, teaching and community service. Recruitment will be targeted to an individual with the research, clinical and teaching credentials appropriate for the rank of an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School.

 

Opportunity Highlights

This newly formed Center will collaboratively develop, implement, andevaluate translational research initiatives to improve peri-operative care of surgical patients, and will serve as the hub for related research, educational, and clinical activities at BIDMC. The Director of this Center will partner with Departmental leadership and other faculty as we expand, collaboratively develop, implement, andevaluate clinical translational initiatives to improve care of surgical patients, with afocus on preserving cognitive health and preventing post-operative delirium.

 

The goals of the Director shall be to provide solid knowledge base in cognitive health to allied faculty, and developclinical champions with added expertise in translational work, who can spearhead clinical implementation and translational research projects. The responsibilities of this position shall also include providing and coordinating care in the perioperative and postoperative settings for older adults with multiple medical conditions, functional decline and psychosocial complexity.

 

Academic engagement will entail clinical translational program development, inter-professional clinical education and quality improvement initiatives to facilitate career advancement. The new Director shall have robust research funding, scholarship and expertise in mentoring. The successful candidate will be also committed to education of fellows and residents.

Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Anesthesia, Medicine or Geriatrics and qualify for a license to practice Medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
