Academic Faculty leadership position:

Associate Division Chief – Pediatric Emergency Medicine

The University of South Alabama Health System, Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking an Associate Division Chief for Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM). The position will assist the Chief in overseeing all PEM division missions, including pediatric emergency care delivery, education and scholarship.

The USA Health System has two main inpatient facilities, including the recently remodeled Children’s and Woman’s Hospital. The Peds ED sees 35-40,000 visits/yr. USA Children’s and Woman’s Hospital is near the other USAHS facilities and located in a beautiful park setting. This is the only academic, pediatric referral center in the region. The other USAHS hospital, University Hospital, has the only Level 1 Trauma center and Burn Unit in the region.

The Pediatric Emergency Department is undergoing aggressive clinical and academic growth.

This includes recruitment of Peds EM faculty in addition to an Associate Division Chief. The PED has a major teaching role, with rotations by pediatric and family medicine residents, as well as medical and NP/PA students. An EM Residency program just began this year.

The Associate Division Chief will be responsible for helping grow the division’s academic mission, faculty development, and related scholarly activities; as well as generally providing leadership within the hospital, USAHS and College of Medicine.

This is a full-time faculty appointment at USA, level dependent on academic experience.

The compensation, benefit and support package for this role are very AAMC competitive.

Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and CV to:
