The Nurse Residency Program at Penn Medicine Princeton Health is a 12 month program designed to support recent nursing graduates as they transition into their first nursing role. The program consists of a series of work and learning experiences that emphasize and develop the clinical and leadership skills necessary for the advanced beginner nurse to become a successful part of the interprofessional health care team.Upon hire at Penn Medicine, all eligible new to practice nurses are automatically enrolled into the Nurse Residency Program at Penn Medicine. In addition to a full salary and an excellent benefits package, the Nurse Residency Program provides exceptional support and resources to new graduate nurses a true benefit to working at Penn Medicine.The Nurse Resident works under the direct supervision of an experienced RN preceptor. The nurse resident is a licensed RN and is provided a variety of additional opportunities in which to strengthen their knowledge and skill in the practice of nursing through a work-learn environment.*Please note: the units available are dependent on need of the organization, and will be assigned based on candidate interest and availability.Areas of focus include but not limited to:¢ Med/Surg¢ Critical Care¢ Emergency Department¢ Maternal Child Health¢ Psych/Behavioral HealthSome job functions and duties will include, but are not limited to:¢ Provides for the physical and psychosocial care of a group of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Preceptor using the Nursing Process.¢ Assists patients with activities of daily living, including, but not limited to feeding, ambulating, etc.¢ Performs routine patient care procedures, including, but not limited to: monitoring vital signs; collecting specimens, changing simple dressings, measuring height and weight, intake and output, pulse oximetry, and the like. Able to participate in RN skills and job expectations under the supervision of a nurse preceptor once competency is assessed.¢ Participates in maintaining a safe patient care environment¢ Participates in infection control management by following established Medical Center policy and procedure.¢ Reports changes observed in patient condition or behavior.¢ Documents patient care activities within clinical computer system.¢ Maintains cost containment on the unit through careful and thoughtful use of supplies and equipment.OTHER JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Develops and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with other members of the healthcare team in relation to patient care.3. Supports customer service and performance improvement goals for the department, and collaborates with other staff within and outside the department to enhance patient care and service. Maintains standards for confidentiality.4. Possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to meet patients physical, psychological, and social needs with those growth and developmental levels and patient populations served within the department.5. Participates in unit compliance as related to established standards.6. Attends scheduled in-services and educational programs offered as part of the Nurse Residency Program to enhance knowledge and promote professional growth.7. Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduate from a baccalaureate nursing program with a GPA of 3.0 or above in nursing courses\n• Related work experience - previous experience in a health care environment - preferred\n\nLicensure, Certification or Registration Requirements:\n• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License\n\nSpecialized Skills & Knowledge Requirements:\n• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures\n• Ability to speak effectively with patients, families, and co-workers\n• Interpersonal skills, customer service orientation, ability to work as a team member, organizational skills
