Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice1.\tProvides age appropriate care for the population served. Gives consideration to growth & developmental phase of life, to age related factors such as thermal regulation, medication administration, nutrition, safety and functional needs of the patient.2.\tUses appropriate resources for patients with special needs such as language barriers, sensory problems, altered cognition, cultural and religious needs.3.\tEnsures attention to patients physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.4.\tDemonstrates competency in assessment and re-assessment skills of the Surgical and Medical ACC patient, plans and initiates care, and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions taking appropriate actions to move patient toward reaching goals of care. (Includes admission and post procedure assessments and updates needs of Medical ACC patient with each subsequent visit). 5.\tPerforms pain assessments and intervenes to optimally meet patients needs for comfort.6.\tPlans clinical care based on patients needs and uses available resources.7.\tPerforms clinical care in accordance with policy and procedure.8.\tPerforms peripheral venipuncture and peripheral and central vascular access care according to policy & procedure.9.\tPerforms phlebotomy with IV starts and/or with venipuncture according to policy and procedure. 10.\tIdentifies situations that warrant patient rescue and takes appropriate action, e.g. Rapid Response or Code Blue/Pink.11.\tAdheres to the Universal protocol for patient Identification and Site Identification. 12.\tAdheres to the 5 rights of medication administration and uses the Medication Administration Check (MAK) system per policy and procedure.13.\tIntegrates principles of infection control & infection prevention into practice.14.\tAdheres to aseptic technique as appropriate.15.\tUses resources and references for reviewing policies and procedures, medications, and clinical information.16.\tPrioritizes and organizes work effectively within assigned shift.17.\tPerforms post procedure telephone calls to all discharged patients and documents in chart. Communication1.\tUses effective communication during hand-offs. (e.g. Shift report, transfer report, etc).2.\tOrganizes information into a meaningful format, such as SBAR.3.\tDelegates appropriately to unlicensed personnel and team members.4.\tCommunicates patient care information to the interdisciplinary care team in a timely manner. 5.\tProvides patient and family education in a manner that is understood and gives the patient and family handouts, brochures and resources that can be taken home for future reference.6.\tDemonstrates a cheerful, friendly manner while on duty.7.\tAccepts assignments and performs as a team member to provide best outcomes for patients.8.\tIntroduces self to patient and explains procedures to patient and family.

Education Training and Experience\nBSN is required. \nTwo years Medical Surgical, or prior experience in PeriAnesthesia nursing is recommended, however training and specialty specific education programs are provided during orientation, and must be successfully completed as scheduled.\nBasic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on the job training for CCH computer programs.\nAbility to speak, read, write and understand English.\n\nLicensure/Certification \nCurrent Pennsylvania RN License \nCPR certification required \n\nACLS\n\nPrior PACU Experience\n\nMust meet specialty specific competency requirements\nUrine pregnancy certification\n\nCertification in clinical specialty preferred\n\nWork Contact Group\nThe Chester County Hospital personnel, physicians, volunteers, patients and their families/visitors and vendors.
