Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice1.\tPerforms all duties and responsibilities of a staff nurse when needed.2.\tFacilitates the use of appropriate resources for patients with special needs.3.\tIdentifies situations that warrant patient rescue and takes appropriate action.4.\tIntegrates principles of infection control & infection prevention into practice.5.\tUses resources and references for reviewing policies and procedures, medications, and clinical information.6.\tPrioritizes and organizes work effectively within assigned shift.7.\tMonitors nursing performance and practice, initiating action to ensure adherence to standards.Communication1.\tUses effective communication during hand-offs.2.\tOrganizes information into a meaningful format.3.\tDelegates appropriately to unlicensed personnel and team members.4.\tCommunicates patient care information to the interdisciplinary care team. 5.\tProvides patient and family education in a manner that is understood, using supplemental materials as appropriate.6.\tCommunicates effectively in high stress situations.7.\tCommunicates collaboratively with peers and other disciplines both internal and external to the hospital, promoting respect and teamwork.Documentation1.\tDocuments patient care that is relevant to patients diagnosis, problems and reflects patients status in an accurate, professional, and timely manner using the electronic medical record and paper forms.2.\tFacilitates downtime documentation processes.Professional Role Development1.\tDevelops own nursing knowledge via practice, professional literature, and attending continuing education programs.2.\tPromotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to quality patient care.3.\tServes as a resource person and role model to all staff members.4.\tPromotes innovation and creativity in the practice environment.5.\tServes as a mentor and preceptor for new employees.6.\tAccepts constructive feedback about performance or behaviors and shows evidence of change.7.\tDemonstrates verbal and writing skills that are appropriate for healthcare communication. 8.\tAdheres to the Department of Nursing Dress Code.Department of Nursing and Organization Support1.\tAttends assigned committee meetings and contributes to the committees. 2.\tCommunicates support of organizational values and strategies.3.\tSupports the following organizational programs: Magnet®, Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification, Nursing Councils, and integrates their standards into clinical practice.4.\tMaintains good attendance/lateness standards in accordance with Hospital policy.5.\tSupports a system of communication and collaboration with other department managers to resolve interdepartmental issues/concerns to support the development of new programs and to meet the overall missions, vision and goals of the department and organization.Departmental Support1.\tPromotes the unit(s) goals, utilizing a participative approach. Assists in assuring implementation and evaluation of these goals.2.\tMaintains equipment in working order.3.\tMaintains the unit in a state of survey readiness at all times. For example, quality control measures, emergency equipment checks, medication preparation area cleanliness, etc.4.\tAdvances the patient experience through maintaining a quiet environment, ensuring hourly patient rounds, customer service, etc.5.\tAttends staff meetings on a regular basis.6.\tRepresents supervisor/manager(s) in his/her absence.Management Responsibilities:1.\tEnsures the patient care area is maintained, clean, and secure for patients, visitors, and staff2.\tAssists the Director, Clinical Manager, and Assistant Clinical Manager with compliance for policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of care.3.\tUtilizes the Performance Management process of planning, coaching, evaluating and developing to evaluate the performance of the unit personnel in collaboration with their supervisor/manager(s).4.\tPromotes a safe and quality patient and family experience.5.\tResponds to unacceptable behavior by addressing with staff member in a timely manner, reporting incident to their supervisor/manager(s) and documenting appropriately.6.\tFacilitates the patient flow process for admission, discharges, and transfers.7.\tIntegrates interdepartmental communication as evidenced by problem solving.8.\tCollaborates with the Unit Leadership and Nursing Administrative Supervisor in maintaining staffing standards, schedules, and assignments.9.\tCollaborates with external agencies to facilitate care for patients.10.\tEnsures equity and fairness across staff interactions.11.\tCreates staffing assignments to support the operations of the department.12.\tParticipates in QI/PI projects, staff evaluations, and departmental projects.

Education Training and Experience\nGraduate of an accredited Nursing Program. Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required. \nExperience preferred, however training and specialty specific education programs are provided during orientation, and must be successfully completed as scheduled.\nBasic computer skills: keyboard, mouse use. Ability to complete data entry on clinical documentation screens. Ability to use email and internet. Ability to successfully complete on the job training for all other CCH computer programs. Ability to practice critical thinking and organizational skills. Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.\n\nLicensure/Certification \nCurrent Pennsylvania RN License. \nCPR, ACLS, PALS certification required. \nCEN or CPEN preferred.\n\nMust meet specialty specific competency requirements.\nDysrhythmia Interpretation\nCritical Care Course\nTriage Course\nStroke Education\nCode PCI Education\nVerbal Judo Training
