Pennsylvania hospital is pleased to present the opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join the inpatient Advanced Practice Team as an APP Manager of Surgical Services. We are looking for an APP with a 5+ years of clinical and 2+ years of leadership experience in Orthopaedic Surgery, a large and growing surgical service at Pennsylvania Hospital. The Ortho patient services are covered by Advanced Practice Providers (NPs/PAs) 24/7. This position will be 60% clinical and 40% administrative. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) providing inpatient care for patients who are undergoing or who have undergone orthopedic surgery. There is a growing need for assisting in the OR as our program continues to expand. Management responsibilities will include but not limited to hiring, performance evaluations, growth and mentoring surgical APPs, as well as forward thinking in the design, staffing, and processes of the Inpatient Orthopedic Service Line. The PA-C/CRNP will provide quality care across the continuum working collaboratively with the physicians, fellows, Director of APPs, and other APPs to achieve a team centered approach to comprehensive patient care for our patients. This position requires a high level of independence but is well supported with collaborative practice and multi-disciplinary practice model as well as administrative support. The high acuity clinical practice setting is dynamic, fast- paced, and high pressure. Excellent critical thinking skills, organizational, communication skills, and strong medical, pharmacology, nursing, medical knowledge are essential. In this role there will also be a tremendous professional growth potential and the opportunity to participate in Penn Medicines tripartite mission of clinical care, research, and education.All of our Physician Assistants and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners function under the guidelines as designed by the Pennsylvania Hospital medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The APP Manager, Surgical Services hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their supervisory/collaborative agreement with their supervising/collaborating physician. The Advanced Practitioner, while providing quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the care team, performs histories, physicals, and procedures according to credentialing, and provide care and patient/family teaching. Also participates in research as appropriate, ensures regulatory compliance, documents care according to standards, and prescribes in accordance with the collaborative agreement and State regulations.

•\t3+ years of recent NP/PA experience in area of specialty with demonstrated clinical competence and professional accountability. Combination of inpatient and outpatient experience ideal. 2+ years of progressive leadership / management experience.\n And one of the following:\n•\tCurrent licensure as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Board certification in area of specialty. Must have a strong clinical background in clinical specialty with management / supervisory experience preferred. Master’s degree required.\n**Orthopaedic Surgery experience strongly preferred
