The position encompasses general urology, but there is a focus on mens health care primarily. This includes patients with sexual health problems such as erectile dysfunction, priapism, penile curvature and hypogonadism. There is also a focus on male voiding dysfunction including BPH, urethral stricture disease and urinary incontinence. The position entails performing urologic procedures (all training will be provided), collaboration with a urologist, seeing patients independently and providing non-surgical urologic care. Opportunity and mentorship is available to participate in research projects, clinical trials, and academic endeavors.All APP's function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The APP will be held accountable through a formal job description, through the delineation of privileges, and through their agreement with their collaborating physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines. Individual must be ACLS and BLS certified in addition to other credentialing requirements.This position has a dual reporting structure. The AP will report to the Collaborating Physician and Director of Urology who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position as it pertains to the Department of Surgery/Division of Urology, as well as, implementation/oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each clinical department. The Human Resource issues relating to daily job performance will be the responsibility of the Business Director, a collaborating physician will be identified from the Division of Urology who will be responsible for direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills. The identified collaborating physician will evaluate the APP Clinical Skills and Competence as part of their annual performance review.
