The Endocrine and Oncologic Surgery (EOS) Service specializing in Breast at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has an exciting opportunity for a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C), to join their team of board certified general surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers. The EOS team at HUP/CPUP is part of the Department of Surgery. This position is to join the breast surgery section which provides surgical oncology care for breast cancer and benign breast disease, as well as non-surgical management of benign breast disease. As an NP/PA on this service you will be part of a high functioning inter-professional team who is responsible for the management of complex breast surgery patients. Responsibilities for the NP/PA who joins our team will include outpatient management, clinical decision making, procedures according to credentialing, including punch biopsy, cyst/abscess aspiration, in-office incision and drainage, management of postoperative complications, care coordination, team collaboration, and education of patients, family and staff. In addition, the provider will participate in research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations. Responsibilities for the NP/PA who joins our team will include outpatient management, clinical decision making, procedures according to credentialing, care coordination, team collaboration, and education of patients, family and staff. In addition, the provider will participate in research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations.The NP/PA, will provide quality care across the continuum in collaboration with physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, nursing staff, and other members of the care team, and be expected to manage patient care autonomously within the scope of their professional practice. Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with departmental and hospital projects and committees.All NPs and PA-Cs function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, M.S.N, and certification as a nurse practitioner.\nPrior to employment, the CRNP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board. \n\nOR\n\nLicensed to practice as a physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, M.H.S., and certification as a physician assistant.\nPrior to employment, the PA must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.
