The Department of Neurosurgery is looking for preferably experienced Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants to work in their Ambulatory practice at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The NP/PA will be required to hold both active RN and CRNP or Physician Assistant Pennsylvania and New Jersey license.All Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners and Certified Physicians Assistants will function under the guidelines as designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP/PA hired by the Department of Neurosurgery will be held accountable through a formal job description and through the delineation of privileges. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the Director of the Neurosurgery CRNP/PA Program in collaboration with the supervising physician, and within the Human Resource guidelines. This position has a dual reporting structure. The CRNP/PA will report to the Director of the CRNP/PA Program who will be responsible for the administrative oversight of the position as it pertains to the Department of Neurosurgery, as well as, implementation / oversight of selected hospital CEQI indicators that are chosen for each clinical department. The Human Resource issues relating to daily job performance will be the responsibility of the Director of the Neurosurgery CRNP/PA Program. The identified collaborating/supervising physician from the Department of Neurosurgery will be responsible for direct oversight of the clinical role and lead orientation to the clinical unit and ongoing assessment of the clinical skills. The collaborating/supervising physician will evaluate the CRNP/PAs Clinical Skills and Competence as part of their annual performance review.

Licensed to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing Regulations \n\n or \n\nLicensed to practice as a Physician Assistant by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine Regulations.\n\nPrior to employment, the CRNP/PA must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.\n\nCertification as a CRNP or PA-C required at time of employment. \n\nA minimum of 40 hours per week with additional time required to fulfill the responsibility of the position. \n\nVariable hours of duty (i.e., day, evening, night, and weekend shifts) may be necessary. \n\nThe business day is concluded when the clinical practice CRNP/PA team has completed the required work. \n\nHospital continuing education to meet the requirements of the system and as per JCAHO. Minimum requirements for continuing education as outlined by the State Board and appropriate Professional Credentialing Center (ANCC).
